Jason Straka of Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design, an award-winning golf course design partnership with worldwide reach, has been elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA). Nominated for the position of Secretary in November 2017 by the ASGCA Nominating Committee, Jason was formally elected to the position at last month’s ASGCA Annual Meeting held in Houston, Texas.

Becoming a Regular Member of the ASGCA in 2008, Jason has previously served on its Board of Directors, was instrumental in creating a formal ASGCA Education Committee which he chaired since its inception, oversaw the review of the Golf Environment Organization’s (GEO) design guidelines, and was Chairman of the Tartan Ribbon Panel which defined future skill sets needed by golf course architects. Leadership is a part of Jason’s DNA. This past December Jason completed his Presidency of the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation.

I am honored and humbled to be chosen to serve my fellow colleagues and the wonderful sport of golf.  Golf has given so much to me and my family and I look forward to giving back to the game, and representing my colleagues and ASGCA to the best of my ability.  I also look forward to working with ASGCA staff for they are a dynamic group of talented and high-energy people who advance our organization and the world-wide impact we have on golf. – Jason Straka
