DUBLIN, Ohio (July 22, 2014) – Two Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design principal designed courses (www.frystraka.com) have won an award in Golf Inc.’s 2014 Renovation of the Year Competition, a contest which annually seeks to recognize the best renovation projects of the past year from around the world. Jason Straka, a principal in Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design, oversaw both projects, designed on behalf of Hurdzan/Fry Environmental Golf Design.

In the daily/fee public courses category, Camelback Golf Club (Ambiente course), at the historic JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., won the first-place award. And in the private courses category, Columbia Country Club, in Columbia, Mo., managed by Dallas-based Eagle Golf, won the third-place award.

“It is an extraordinary honor to be recognized for two of our renovation projects in the 2014 Golf Inc. Renovation of the Year competition,” Straka said. “Dedication to client satisfaction is our guiding principle, and these awards affirm our commitment as we strive to design courses and renovations that exceed the expectations at each club.”

Submissions for the Golf Inc. 2014 Renovation Competition were judged on how well the renovations improved the course, based on four primary criteria: routing, playability, maintainability and aesthetics. Entrants were asked to describe how the renovation achieved its purpose through concrete results.
