Member-owned West Bay Club in Estero, Florida has commissioned Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design to renovate its 18-hole championship golf course.  Located adjacent to Estero Bay on Florida’s southwest coast, the property borders a magnificent nature preserve and wetlands.  Pete and P.B. Dye originally designed the course in 1998 to enhance the dramatic natural environment.  The renovation will further enrich the appeal of the course by adding more modern design elements and deliver exceptional playing conditions for the membership.

Fry/Straka is currently in the master planning stage of the project.  The primary focus of the design will be on enhancing the greens complexes and rebuilding the bunkering.  Drainage improvements will also be made, which will support improved conditioning and playability.   In addition, some turfgrass will be removed and the bulk of the golf course will be re-grassed with environmentally friendly, state of the art turfgrass.

With some aspects of the renovation slated for implementation in 2017, the remaining features will be completed in 2018.  Fry/Straka is excited to work with West Bay Club and lead a course renovation that will result in a more memorable and challenging round of golf for players of all skill levels.
